Learning by Doing

Education in, for, and about the Environment

Manawari SEA organizes experience-based learning excursions for students interested in pursuing careers in the environmental and development sector. These include visits to ecologically significant sites, such as Ramsar wetland areas in Metro Manila and forest restoration areas in Tanay, Rizal, as well as opportunities to interact with experienced advocates or frontline communities. These field trips are designed to cultivate ecological empathy and critical thinking by providing opportunities for youth leaders to witness and reflect on the beauty and struggles of the environment and communities around them.

Upland Fieldtrip and Community Immersion

In July 2025, Manawari SEA organized a field excursion to Mount Purro Nature Reserve for Parabukas 2025 Summer Internship Program. During the excursion, the students were able to spend an afternoon planting native seedlings in their tree planting area and engage with representatives from the Dumagat Tribe. We were also joined by interns from Wetlands International.

Wetlands Fieldtrip and Coastal Clean Up Fieldtrip

In August 2024, Manawari SEA partnered with Parabukas and Wetlands International to organize and facilitate a field excursion to the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, formerly the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area, for their 2024 Summer Internship Program. Nicole, then Executive Director of Manawari SEA, facilitated a bird watching activity, followed by a coastal clean up and waste audit facilitated by Kisha, from Wetlands International.
